Bariatric Surgery?: The digestive tract could dilate before a point of narrowing or obstruction. If you still has the lap band that could explain that. Other possibilities could be genetic, viral infection, diabetes that could affect the nervous system in the gut.

This may cause food to get stuck before entering into the stomach. An upper GI x-ray or gastroscope could show this. Should consult with your doctor to find out what is causing the problem.

Workout on empty stomach.
Be upright as much as reasonable.
Lose weight, treat symptoms.

Sure it's air?: These kinds of symptoms are concerning for an obstruction. Things such as a hiatal hernia or other structural problems with your stomach should be ruled out. Any time there is vomiting involved for a sustained period of time, it should be evaluated. See your doctor and perhaps a GI specialist if needed. Take care.

: There is no valve. There is a fold in the tube with muscles that draw it closed like a purse string. Things like caffeine/nicotine make closure weaker, laying down after feeds places extra pressure on the entrance. The stomach has muscular actions to churn/mix the foods with acid before entering the intestines. This squeezing can push acids against the entrance. Everyone can have reflux.

Esophagus not opened: If the esophagus it is not opened-up from your stomach up to your mouth, the gas won't come out. Some spasm in any part of the length of your esophagus can occur and stop the gas from coming up.
Sometime it is easier to do than others...The more relaxed you are, the easier it is to burp...

Pain: One cause to be considered is reflux esophagitis which can be treated with appropriate ppi therapy.Also to be considered is esophagesl motility disorders such as achalasia and diffuse esophageal spasm  which are also readily ttreated.I would suggest you have an esophageal motility study and or a pH monitiring study which can diferentiate these disorders.
