You probably need upper GI endoscopy to determine the extent of regurgitation and possible damage to your esophagus. If severe enough -- as in barrett&#x27;s esophagus -- you could have some cancer risk.

Flu like symptoms: Please check your temperature, drink fluids and rest. You may be at risk for an embolism, and a HRCT may be indicated as well as D Dimer screening. If you have symptoms only at night, try a proton pump inhibitor before bedtime and gauge response.

If you have been developing choking in your sleep for a while with some nasal congestion and now your nose is completely blocked you may have nasal allergies and post nasal drip. Depending on the duration of your symptoms either see your primary or an allergist.

Acid reflux?: May just have been too much, too late. On the other hand, the symptoms you describe could represent gerd, gastroesophageal reflux disease. You may have other symptoms which you may have ignored in the past. Belching? Acid taste in throat? Throat clearing? Cough? Should see a doctor.

A medical evaluation is needed and possibly a sleep study to monitor breathing, heart rate and rythm, brain waves tobrule out seizure activity and levels of blood oxygen. Get this done and feel more refreshed in am.

The acid will migrate up your esophagus and can cause a feeling of vomit or choking when you wake up. You need to be evaluated as well as change certain lifestyles such as raising the head of your bed while you sleep. An upper endoscopy is essential for your exam.
