can i take a baclofen, if i had taken a tramodol 2 hours ago?  i am having 10 out of 10 on the pain scale back spasms.  i just n back has been spasming for about 6 hours.  some positions help but not for long.  they just seem to come in waves.

Tramadol : Tramadol is usually dosed every 4-6 hours.  Baclofen is usually every 8 hours.  They can both cause respiratory depression so should definitely only be taken as prescribed.  You could also try alternating heat and cool packs to your pack, and taking advil (ibuprofen) (it's not strong but sometimes the combination can help) if you don't have reasons you can't take nsaids (blood disorder, ulcer, etc).

Back pain: The spasm in the back can be due to lot of reasons, it is mostly seen with back sprain or other related musculoskeletal issues. You can use heating pad, over the counter topical cream such as bengay or asper cream. If symptoms persist then see your doctor.

can tight,spasming hip, butt, low back muscles on one side cause leg to hurt? had steroid shot in butt gave a little relief but still feels crampy

Spasm: Absolutely, spasm can reduce blood flow and cause pain/aching in the leg. Not sure why you had the steroid IM shot though. Consider getting your low back looked at by a chiropractor or a DO who knows how to manipulate.  Odds are you have a structural issue somewhere below L2.  Soak in a hot bath then do some gentle stretching exercises.

Muscle injury: Severe pain in the lower back is frequently related to muscle spasm.  The complex array of lower back muscles may be injured by physical activity.  Poor lifting mechanics may cause this injury, resulting in muscle spasm.  Also, muscle injury may result from rapid acceleration/deceleration. This type of injury is frequently caused by motor vehicle accidents.

Valium: In the short run Vailum can help with skeletal muscle spasm and anxiety.  Valium is addicting and can cause depression.  Physical therapy, massage therapy, other agents ( including applied heat and cold) can help. Evaluation by a chiropractor or physical therapist or physician is usually warranted to diagnosis and manage chronic back problems.

I : I do not know the cause of your back pain. A muscle spasm is caused by an abnormal contraction of the muscle. It can be especially painful if the spasm is near a nerve root (from the spinal cord). The muscle fibers become torn with a spasm and there may be bleeding into the muscle. As you have already figured, certain movements can cause increased pain.  Some things which might put you at risk for developing this type of back pain includes abnormal curvature of your spine, weak stomach muscles, weak muscles in your back or a variety of medical conditions like arthritis, a bulging or ruptured disk, spinal stenosis, previous injuries etc.   If you have a new acute injury, ice can be helpful. If this is a chronic problem â€” consider heat (moist heat in a shower or jacuzzi or a heating pad â€” ensuring that you donâ€™t burn yourself).

A little vague: I'm not exactly sure what this could be but generally speaking those symptoms point to a low blood sugar (best case) or a cardiovascular problem (worst case).  I would recommend being evaluated at an Urgent Care or ER today.

Pain: A ruptured cyst can indeed be very painful and it may result in spasms depends on where the cyst is located. It is imperative though that any spasmodic back pain is evaluated by your doctor to rule out any other worrying cause

Spasms: I wonder if you may have esophageal spasms that are felt in your back. The esophageal (foodpipe) spasms may refer to the back and that may be the reason why you feel them there.  The pancreas pain may also refer to the back but it is usually severe and normally happens after meals, whereas esophageal spasms are usually during the meal.
