Metabolic problem: There are several metabolic problems that can present as low body temperature. Hypothyoidism is commonly a cause, but other metabolic problems can be causative as well. Low temperature=low energy production. I would bet that you have other symptoms as well.

See below: Hypothermia, broken thermometers, poor measuring technique and hypothyroidism. Normal body temp really is about 98.2 although 98.6 is the "standard."  normal body temp may be a little lower for some, but i feel this is often over reported.

If the fever is over 101, your child is contagious until it stays below 101 for 24 hours. 98.6 is an average body temperature (which means that there is a range of normal temps). If he is acting fine, you can usually just observe and see if he has any other symptoms. A virus will usually run its course in 7-10 days.

Night sweats: Night sweats can be caused by fever but other things can cause night sweats.  In your case , you list obesity - a very common cause of night sweats is sleep apnea.  Even if you are already treated, make sure the setting on CPAP are ok. Thyroid functions should be checked and meds reviewed.  At your age, also perimenopausal sweats-hot flashes are on the list.

Likely viral: This event so long ago was likely one of many viral illnesses you have had over your lifetime. It might have be possible to label it at the time with blood tests taken during and a month after recovery, but not now. Since you recovered &amp; whoever cared for you at the time didn't pursue it it will remain an unknown. I would not lose any sleep over it.

Maybe inaccurate T: Most accurate way of measuring your body temp is to measure the temperature of a freshly voided urine specimen. If she was drinking a cold drink just before measuring an oral temperature then that would give a falsely low reading.
