Suctioning: Saline nasal drops and auctioning are all i would do.  Babies have to breath through their nose so it is best to try to keep it clear.  Sleeping in a car seat can also be helpful if it is affecting sleep.  A humidifier can also help thin the mucous and allow it to drain.

Maybe nothing: Could have a mild cold or he could just have "normal baby congestion" because his passages are small. Breast feeding can help prevent a lot of things but not all...it will help though because of the antibodies to help babies recover. As long as he eats well and has no other symptoms...no worries.

Nose drops: I would use a Normal Saline nose drop which is over the counter (little noses, ayr nose drops, ocean nose drops)- it works best within 3 days- if your child is still having symptoms after 3 days, she should be checked by her pediatrician.

2 month old with wet cough for 3 days. she gets really bad coughing fits from time and has stuffy nose. should i worry about a cold at that age?

Yes: A "cold" can be significant a this age. Young babies are nose only breathers, so make sure that you keep her passages clear by using saline drops, encourage extra clear fluids like pedialyte, elevate the head of the crib she sleeps. Check her temp and if over 101, see pediatrician right away. Observe for sleepiness, irritability, decreased appetite. See your pediatrician sooner rather than later.

Needs to be seen: More important that what it could be, is what it is.  Unfortunately, this would have to be seen by a dentist, preferably a pedodontist, or pediatrician in person in order to give you an accurate answer. Call for an appointment.

Continue the saline: Nasal washes, especially before feeding, if symptoms progress/fever or reduced feeding, see his doctor, otherwise make sure your baby isn't exposed to smokers or second hand smoke or other causes that would irritate the upper airways, enjoy your baby

There is no: actual medication for congestion recommended for a baby of your daughter's age. The saline drops and suctioning with a bulb syringe are the best remedies. Also, you can use a humidifier/vaporizer in her room, which should also help. Make sure she is drinking plenty of fluids. If she develops a fever, cough, decreased oral intake or isn't getting better, you should take her to her pediatrician.

are inhalant allergies common in  a newborn ? i care for a 1 month old , a stuffy nose  for two days. a temperature of 99.6  started today.

Allergies in newborn: Inhalant allergies are not that common at this age but if the baby is constantly being exposed to some allergens e.g. Dusty room, old carpets that have not been cleaned for a while, it is possible.  But given that the baby's temp is little elevated (not fever), it may be a cold. You could use nasal saline spray or drops and to see if helps see your pediatrician.

Nasal saline: Nasal saline is to me the best single agent if the rx of a stuffy nose. Using liberal amounts you can accomplish 2 goals. Thinning the thickened secretions  & washing irritants like dust, smoke particles & pollen away. It also helps to evaluate babies exposures & avoid irritants.Perfumes, dust, cooking & cleaning fumes, scented laundry soaps etc all can prolong a babies stuffiness.
