Vitamins may help: It is difficult to know what you mean by twist as they grow. There could be a problem at matrix where the nail is formed or even at the underling bone. Neither of those problems are treatable at home. If however the nails are soft nutritional supplements containing biotin may be helpful. There is also a prescription for strengthening nails call genedur.

Misdirection: I suggest getting the child their own emery board. This will allow the child to "file" their nails gently whenever they feel the urge to bite their nails. They can polish and shine the nails instead of biting. Just another one of the areas of "misdirection or redirection" we try with our kids.

Brittle nails: may have a nutritional basis (Thus GELATIN is often suggested for nail health) however one disorder should be ruled out with a simple Blood test HYPO-(LOW)-THYROIDISM....

Biotin: Try increasing the amount of biotin in the diet by adding a supplement or taking a multivitamin with biotin in it.  Otherwise visit a podiatrist or dermatologist to have them take a look.

Unproven yogic Rx: This sounds unlikely but it's not impossible this might help some. Apparently the source is yogic practice, for which I have a great deal of respect, so i would not call it a "myth, " but there is not any research proving (or disproving) this technique. Stretch, magnesium: Stretching would always be good prior to physical activity. Yoga would be good in general. Check side effects of any medication you are on.A lot of people are low in magnesium. Try taking 400-800 mg daily. Next is adequate hydration, hydration etc. A liquid trace mineral supplement would also be a good add-on.

: Diabetes does not occur by just eating a lot of sweet things. Your urge is not from Diabetes. You should tell your parents of your worries who will probably get you checked and you will be OK Good luck

Finasteride pills - used for enlarged prostate and NOT without side effects/risks. These are:

slight incr risk of high grade prostate cancer
can affect liver
can alter PSA test results
