Remedies: Saltwater gargles are very helpful. Mix a teaspoon of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle with this several times a day. You can  also gargle with aloe vera juice a couple of times per day.

Burning feeling: Acid reflux is Hydrochloric acid with is extremely caustic and a burning sensation can be felt.  Many people are completely unaware that any reflux is occurring so it is called occult.  Ulcers in the stomach doesn't present as a cold feeling in the throat.  Do you have abdominal pain?  Are you a smoker, gum chewer?  These can contribute to increased acid production.

Usually viral: The mouth/throat is the most common portal for germs to enter the body. Most of these are viral &amp; respond to supportive care with fluids &amp; simple feeds. If the kid doesn't pee at least every 8 hrs he is getting dry &amp; needs to be seen. Chilled fluids/ice chips/chilled applesauce are often helpful.

Doctor can evaluate: Throat symptoms can be from a strep infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or the flu (antibiotics usually not needed), or from another cause such as allergies, irritants, other viruses, etc... A person may see a doctor if throat symptoms are bothersome, recurrent, or don't go away quickly. One's doctor can examine. Of course, having the flu does not mean a person cannot catch something else.

They can hurt: They can be painful and also cause hoarseness. They can be due to reflux or overuse of the voice, but need to see an otolaryngologist for an exact diagnosis.

Ulcer: More likely an ulcer from some viral infection.  Best way to is to have someone take a look at it, especially if persisting and not going away or changing after 10 10 14 days.

Viral? Herpes?: Several viral infection can do this. Depending on risk and exposure possibilities, this could be a first infection with oral herpes -- usually due to HSV1, but possibly HSV2 if you recently performed oral sex on an infected partner. Certain autoimmune conditions also are possible. Or just an unlucky large outbreak of canker sores. See a doctor ASAP, especially if you might be at risk for herpes.
