Be seen: It sounds like you have an infection.  Be seen.  There are many infections that can be from puncture wounds, and thorn wounds in particular.

Check Redness/tender: Infectins will be red, tender, and swollen.
Hot compresse will help to bring it to a head and relieve the pressure.  Topical antibiotics will keep the puncture draining so any infection does not get trapped deep.
Make sure your tetanus shot is up to date.

Need more info: Thorns, particularly rose thorns may transmit a rare form of infection, but what you are describing sounds like you may have had minor bleeding with secondary discoloration around the wound.  If it does not swell up, become red and tender, or develop soft tissue nodules spreading upwards, do not worry.

Culture: Need  to culture wound drainage. Also may have localized toxin from the thorn.

Foreign body: What probably happened is the tip of the thorn broke off inside your skin, leaving a foreign body (similar to a sliver). Sooner or later your skin will expel it, if it's not in too deep.  If it is too deep, or you don't want to wait, a doctor (preferably a dermatologist) can remove it for you.

There : There is probably still a piece of thorn inside.  Infections take 48 hours to develop, so i doubt what you're feeling is infection.

You can try soaking it in plain warm water, which might help whatever is still in there to surface, but you really should go see a podiatrist and have the little sucker out.

It's a thorny issue, but i think you get the point!

Inflammation: If the area becomes red, warm to touch, tender and swollen would definitely call and be seen asap.

Probably not: A puncture of the veins on the wrist is probably not fatal. It will probably seal and stop bleeding.

Negative pressure: You can die from collapsed/punctured lung, as it progresses quickly to a tension pneumothorax. First responders, emt and trauma providers are trained to recognize and release the pressure associated with a collapsed lung, to prevent tension pneumothorax. A chest tube is inserted into the space between your lung and chest wall. The tube is put to negative pressure, so lung can re-expand.
