No proved risk: There are no proved health risks from microwave radiation or other emanations that might come from routers, cell phones, and other electronic devices. There's a lot of noise, specualtion, and false information on the internet about this sort of thing, but still no evidence of harm. This really makes no known difference in your health risks.

Acne scar treatments: Potatoe probably isnt a good choice.   Multiple options for  acne scars exist.  Laser treatments including co2, 1550 nm erbium, peels, dermabrasion, etc.  Seek a qualified facial plastic surgeon.

i noticed kfc restaurant has gone to styrofoam containers for hot mashed potatoes. i have eaten from these containers many times and have noticed a bad chemical taste when i get to the bottom of the container. is my health in danger long term? how?

Plastic containers: Of any kind can put toxins into food, especially when heated.  This MAY be just one more source of collecting toxins in the body.  Anything we can do to eliminate toxins is good.  Please do not re-heat in any type of plastic or use Teflon frying pans.  Some people naturally detox better than others.  Peace and good health.

Safe? Yes. But Raw?: Raw? That is bizarre. Excuse my frankness. What possible value would that have to a school lunch? Raw is not unhealthy, but it seems extremely unappetizing.

Could be yeast: Candida infections of the foreskin are common, and may have a whitish discharge. The penile skin and glans penis would be irritated and red in appearance. See a urologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Good cough helps: If you were able to produce a good cough you probably got it all out. Inhaling food can lead to what is called aspiration pneumonia and/or a chemical reaction in the lung if you are concerned and/or having symptoms (fever, foul smelling cough and phlegm production) you might do well to seek immediate medical attention from a physician who can perform a chest x-ray and do a physical exam.

Absolutely NOT: The rectum is an exit not an entrance. Old wives probably never had a fissure.

No, they are ok: The nutritional value of a potato is actually greater when it is eaten raw. It contains vitamin C, B6 and niacin.  Curiously, raw potatoes are known as a food craved by pregnant woman. Be very careful to wash the potato carefully. Good luck with the nausea (and the twins!)

Weight loss: I wouldn't doubt that anything can induce weight loss, but there is no sufficient proof that anything besides a healthy diet, low in calories, starch & sugar, with vitamin support and reasonable daily exercise, is reliable. Some form of protein and vegetables throughout the day will get you there.

i breast feed my 6 week old. i ate a baked potato and got a bite that was not fully cooked. can this be dangerous for my nursing infant?

Accepted Answer

Not a problem: You could eat it all raw if you chose, but I don't suggest it. Cooking makes it much more digestible. Your breast will take what it needs from your system and leave behind what it doesn't.
