does opll of your cervical cause ulnar and median nerve damage? they want to move my ulnar nerve and open up my carpal tunnel after my neck surgery due to severe neuropathy in all three areas. is this to much surgery? i do have significant atrophy?

: Do not have enough information to even comment on causation.  The question of ulnar nerve transfer and carpal tunnel decompression could be objectified by an EMG/ NCS study, and a second opinion from a hand surgeon of be of great value.

is surgery the only option for median nerve damage from being lacerated?

Accepted Answer

That dpends: The nerve damage is rated three ways:1) numbness/little weakness, 2) major numbness/obvious weakness, 3) doesn't feel or move the hand. For the lattr two, in an acute laceration(not tearing injury) surgery to repair the nerve is best option.
If the first type, then therapy and protective care will give the best outcome.

i have median nerve damage and also missing a tendon below my thumb from having carpal tunnel surgery. im hearing nerve grafts and im scared ?

Better leave alone: The wrist is a very important and sensitive part of the body.  Important nerves, blood vessels, tendons, and bone structures are in the wrist that can be disrupted by surgery.  Best to allow full recovery and manage without further surgery if possible.  A good ot therapist can help you develop return of function.

i do a pudendal nerve emg test and it showing that i have bilateral chronic mild neuropathy . can this issue causes lost of all sensation in penile and scrotum and anal and perineum together and what is the cure ?

: If you have no symptoms than dont worry about a the EMG report. If you do, please see a neurologist. Without a clinical exam no diagnosis can be made. Once the cause is found then proper treatment will help. Good luck.

can demyelinating neuropathy be caused from residual nerve damage even if the nerves are no longer being pinched?

Yes it can: deafferentation pain. Deafferentation refers to the partial or total loss of a sensory nerve supply to a particular body area. Normally, when the sensory supply to an area is compromised, one would expect a decrease in sensation and a loss in ability to perceive pain. However, in some cases involving nerve injury, a paradoxical condition arises.

Radiology consult: Was this a CT or MRI? Any mediastinal mass requires further evaluation, unless diagnosed as benign by a radiologist. Cannot be diagnosed here.

Most do not: No antidepressants cause nerve damage.  Some antipsychotics could cause dyskinesia that could be construed as a sort of nerve damage although the atypical antipsychotics only do this rarely.  The mood stabilizers may negatively impact neurodevelopment in children according to some research.  However, lithium is thought to actually be neuroprotective.

Yes: Sensory symptoms of small fiber neuropathy are highly variable. Common complaints include paresthesias, dysesthesias, and insensitivity to pain. Paresthesias are abnormal sensations. They are often described as numbness, burning, cold, prickling, pins and needles along with other symptoms.

Sciatic Neuropathy: Hello. Diabetes isn't usually associated with true sciatic neuropathy. It can result from nerve compression (tumor, hematoma, etc.)  and injury in the gluteal region or thigh. In the gluteal region, it is most often caused by trauma (posterior hip dis;ocation, pelvic fracture). Nerve can be directly injured during an intramuscular injection into the buttocks.
