Maybe/not : Adequate sleep will permit growth to achieve its genetic potential while poor sleep may not.  I do not know of any studies specifically linking sleep to height or how you could get anyone to pay for them. Research is either interest based or profit driven. Height is only one outcome parameter that general population studies provide us data. Poor health &amp; nutrition practices impair outcomes.

i am 26 and have been overweight since my teens. should i be worried about any heart problems or is my anxiety playing a role of me worrying so much?

Accepted Answer

Obesity is an: independent risk factor for heart disease. You should be worried. In addition it also leads to other life shortening illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension. Both of these disorders will lead to complications and a shortened life expectancy. Lose weight. If you can't do it yourself ask your health care professional for help.

does super advanced whey protein of body fortress is bad for teens? i play soccer in high school and at night i go to the gym

Protein: The most reasonable approach is eat foods high in protein. Especially at the teen level. With proper diet and nutrition there should be no reason to supplement.

fell while playing sports, incredibly painful knee? i'm in my teens, i fell during a soccer game and 2 days later it's still incredibly painful. there's no bruise or skin missing or anything, and i can move my knee without any pain, but when i put weight

It : It surely does sounds like you need to be evaluated. I agree that an orthopaedic surgeon would be an excellent choice. Significant injuries may occur during sports like soccer. You may have a fracture, even a subtle one, that causes the pain you describe, but you may also have an injury to one of the ligaments or the menisci in your knee. Some of the questions your orthopaedist may ask include: "were you able to continue playing after your injury?" "did it hurt immediately or did it hurt more the next day?", "did it swell up immediately or did it take until the next day or did it not swell at all?", "does your knee lock-up or catch?", "does your knee feel wobbly or unstable?" 
one reason to be evaluated is that you very well may have a problem that is easily solvable early on but not nearly so much later on - - - such as a fracture. Similarly, some mensical tears are repairable, but might not be later if the torn menisicus is allowed to get squashed between the fmeur and tibia for a a significant period of time. This might require that the meniscus be removed, which has been shown to lead to earlier arthritis in the knee. Good luck!

There are many: If you are a teen you are at a great time in your life:your metabolism is optimal and you should be a the best overall health . There are so many options. For exercise find something that you enjoy(dancing, zumba, swimming, vollyball, etc). For diet all you may have to do is avoid the junck food and sodas.

when me and my cousin were younger he used to slap my head for fun for nearly 5 years. weird i know but we were in our early teens. the slaps weren't hard most of the time, they didn't cause swelling, pain, or concussions. will i get cte or dementia?

: Most children experience a variety of closed head injuries, and these do not eventuate in brain damage.  Unlikely that your history will lead to CTE.  Cannot predict your future risk of dementia, but about 50% of Americans will experience dementia by age 85.

Hard to say:  The symptom itself may pass if you recline &amp; relax for a while. However, it may be a symptom of an emerging medical problem brought on by the exertion. Only a full evaluation in the office could sort it out if it persists. If you don't improve soon I would go to urgent care.

Depends: It depends on the severity of the injury.  Need to restrengthen muscles and allow damaged/stretched ligamentous attachments to heal. Physical therapy, or specific prescribed exercises, will help. Be sure to stretch appropriately as the healing process progresses to maintain flexibility. The amount of time and intensity required for training differs based on severity.

Not sure: I am not aware that gentle pressure on the carotid arteries causes any problems unless there is underlying disease like carotid hypersensitivity, or plaque. However recurrent forceful pressure can cause trauma to the arteries and cause a multitude of problems. It is better and safer to check the radial pulse in your wrist. You should not compress both carotids at the same time!

Probably okay, but..: The described scenes carry almost no risk to conceive, but theoretically still give no 100 % guaranty. So, just watch and do pregnancy test if missing the expected period for 2-3 weeks, and exercise better precaution against pregnancy in the future. Note, the surest way to avoid pregnancy is abstinence. Yet, sex has been a part of life, either for pleasure or for reproduction, so be responsible...
