i had blood clot heart attack 5 yrs ago, have 4 stents on my right blood vessel in my chest. what are usual chances of reoccurrance?

CAD: You have coronary artery disease if you are not on diet, exercise and polydrug program your chances of another event are good. If you are on a good program of not smoking, and the above reaching blood pressure targets and exercise and LDL 80mg/dl or less along with Aspirin and maybe plavix, (clopidogrel) you are doing what you can to prevent another event.

Yes: Pulmonary embolus creates less surface area of the lung to respire. This can cause shortness of breath, fatigue, tiredness.

NO: Only clots within your circulatory system cause problem. No problem expected with menses, nose bleed, hemorrhoid, cuts, etc.

Possibly : There are few reasons causing these symptoms, one could be that you did not exercise over the last few months while you are sick and now are out of shape.  Another could be because of secondary changes caused by the clot.  It could be a new embolism.  The answer depends on the your medical history, the size of the clot and how it was treated.  I would recommend  follow up with your md.

Blood Clots and risk: Hello:

blood clots are not pleasant things. But, most of them are not life threatening. There is a frequent and common blood clot syndrome called deep vein thrombosis. This occurs in the deep veins of the lower extremity and causes swelling and pain in that lower leg and especially in the calf.

Blood clots in the foot are not benign but if they do not extend then there is less reason to worry.

It depends: Depending on your symptoms and whether your doctor thinks this an acute event or a chronic event. If you having symptoms of acute (happened suddenly) blood clots in your legs and your lungs, you should be started on blood thinners. Dont't be affraid to ask questions be honest with your dr., ask him/her to explain their thought process.

costochondritis for a month.have had heart,lungs and blood clots ruled out.on motrin and ativan (lorazepam).been having weird head pains for a week is it the meds?

Motrin: Yes. Sometimes antiinflammatories can cause these side effects.  Make sure you are taking the correct dose and check with your doctor.  You may have to change this medication.

Pulmon art?: I'm not clear where the clot is - in the pulmonary artery? It would be helpful if you can ask her doctor for the exact medical terminology. That said, blood clots are generally serious. I assume your mother is receiving appropriate treatment? (anticoagulation). If she's at home, her docs must feel that her condition is stable. If in the hosp, she's in good hands.

Depend on severity : You have severe pulmonary hypertension. Many causes,  but by your history probably due to pulmonary embolism. Can be idiopathic, due to left heart disease, lung disease, thromboembolic disease and multifactorial. Treatment include oxygen, anticiagulation, diuretics, ca blockers, phosphodiesterase inhibitors, inhaled nitric oxide, prostacyclin. Talk to your doctor, if severe, surgery is an option.
