Typically developing: 8- month -olds can eat fork-mashed soft foods &amp; finger foods. They also repeat behaviors which garner negative or positive attention. Offer food at pleasant, sit-down family meals &amp; snacks. Don't nudge her to eat. With an emerging pincer grasp, she can  finger feed soft diced food &amp; hold a spoon. When you are ready: As soon as the kid can sit in a high chair near the table, they are easily drawn into sampling what you eat.Be sure to plan meals with at least one item you can mash up and offer to them.Texture is often an issue but the kid will often be willing to sample what it sees others eat.

See below.: Was your son premature? Has he had swallowing difficulties with formula and/or the baby foods? Some children do resist eating table foods because they don't like the texture, but you should speak to his doctor to make sure there isn't a physical reason.

They can but...: Formula is a complete nutrition. They likely expect you to follow their lead and use what they provided. If you don't know the kid well enough to know if he has food allergies or other issues you would be wise not to offer anything else. Clarify the issue in the future if you sit for him again.

Needs variety: I have encountered more than one "milk baby" in my career.  If they are allowed to, they will hold out for milk alone.  Unfortunately, at age 1, this does not provide adequate nutrition.  You need to make sure she is eating food first, and if she refuses, you can't give in and reward her with milk just so she'll have something in her system.  No more than 20-26 ounces of milk a day. Period.

should we give any nutrition supplements to our infant? we are vegetarian and currently giving him vitamin d3 and planning to start give him iron supplement after 4 month age. is this supplement alright? for how long should we continue the supplement

Need more info: Are you giving him milk from his mother or another mammal? If you are using vegetable source "milk" you need to give him vitamin B12 supplement. You should have him evaluated by a pediatrician. Well-baby visits are a good program.
You should be taking B12 and D3 as well.

8-12 mos of age: If your baby has already tried a variety of single item pureed foods you can try some table foods between 8-12 months of age. Make sure they are well mashed. Still avoid honey until a year due to risk of botulism.  Also items cut in circles such as franks and carrots are choking hazards. Stick to finger foods that melt such as cereals or cut in  lengths.
