i had pink eye and finished my prescription eye drops about a week ago, but my eyes are still red. no pain, kind of itchy, and some crust/eye boogers. do i still have pink eye?

Yes...: Pinkeye is a non-specific label that can apply to things like airborne allergens that trigger allergic pinkeye, irritants, viruses&amp; bacteria. You may have been treating bacterial pinkeye when it was something else. You may  have had an irritant reaction to the eye drops. I doubt you are contagious, but if the eyes are pink you have pinkeye. Another eval may be needed.

i was prescribed methylprednisolone for fluid in my ear. about half way through the prescription my symptoms disappeared. should i finish the pack?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Finish the pack as prescribed to make sure all of the inflammation is gone and does not re flair up again  fro only being partially treated.

i have had a rash if some sort all over my body for about a week or so.  i went to urgent care and pa said it could have been caused by a virus.  i  was given a prescription for prednisone which ive finished.  i'm still experiencing itching. using calamin

Accepted Answer

Allergy: Check to see if your detergent for your clothes, or your skin cream, or hair dye, or any topically applied agent has changed. This could cause a  rash which might not respond to prednisone.

i was prescribed medrol dose pak for cervical pain with headaches. will this also help with my tmj symptoms? how long will the pain relief last after i finish the prescription? thanks, merry christmas!

Medrol: Cortisone will reduce inflammation/pain for as long as you take it . Does not cure, it masks symptoms. Will help with pain everywhere, its doesn't have anatomic specificity. See your Dentist about TMJ for diagnosis of cause of your joint dyscrasia and appropriate treatment or referral.

i found out metformin raised my liver enzymes while trying to treat pcos . can i finish the prescription i have left safely ?

Uncommon: It is uncommon for metformin to raise your liven enzymes. High enzymes are more common in Insulin resistance no matter what the therapy. Check w/your doctor for other possible causes.

how do i go about getting a repeat prescription?

Accepted Answer

Refill: If you need a refill for a prescription and refills were added to the initial prescription you can simply return to the same pharmacy you obtained the medication from.  If the prescription did not have refills, you can call your physician's office and see if she will authorize a refill, or if she needs to see you again to do so.

Accepted Answer

Difficult but common: It is difficult to intervene unless your family member wants help.  If the person is elderly, seeking a second opinion from a geriatric specialist would be a good place to start.  It is amazing how many times my elderly patients improve just from stopping medications.  However, this should only be done under competent medical supervision.

Check healh dpartmen: Check local health department or hospital they may have a program.  Another route is to call the companies that make your meds.  They can help.
