could my blue veins on breasts due to weight gain?

Normal finding: I am amazed about how often I have women ask me about the veins on their breast.  Occasionally they are spider veins but mostly they are blue veins.  These are almost always normal findings and normal variations of chest veins.  They tend to be more pronounced in fair skinned females and they may be related to hereditary factors, weight gain or even pregnancies.

i stopped the 3 month injection 10 months ago. i have still not had a period, in last 4 days: sore breasts with blue veins and 2kg weight gain. help?

Accepted Answer

You need testing...: The Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) injection should not be stopping your periods after 10 months.  You may not be ovulating for some other reason.  There is a long list of causes for this such as PCOS, thyroid problems, stress, dieting, extreme exercise, etc.  Figuring it out may require blood tests etc.  You should see an Ob/Gyn for evaluation. All Foods: The same foods that cause weight gain in the rest of the body.  Most of the breast is just fatty tissue.

my breast fed 3 month old has 2-5 poops a day is this normal? she also only gains 2 oz a week.. could this be causing low weight gain

See pediatrician: Usually breast fed babies at 3 months of age can poop 2-5 times a day . But baby should gain weight  5-7 oz per week. May be you do not have enough breast milk and may have to supplement with formula ,so baby stars gaining more weight .Talk to the doctor and get baby checked up .

my breasts have tripled in size since total thyroidectomy 3yrs ago and 20lb weight gain. how can i drastically reduce breast size w/o surgery?

First make sure: you are euthyroid  ( means taking correct dose of  thyroid hormone and to normal levels )  Eat well balanced diet , eat less cut calories and go to gym regularly , you will loose weight

Yes: The skins ability to stretch varies.  Little can be done to prevent stretch marks if you are prone for them.

Sore swollen breasts: Have you checked HCG and a sonogram? i have seen false negative urine HCG.  Sometimes breast swell with premenstr=ual syndrome , have you had a period in between without  change?  Also  check prolactin level as that can be associated with mastalgia - swollen painful breasts.  f/u /w/ doc

my son is on risperidone and i have recently read that it causes breast and weight gain in boys.  is there something else he can take  for his dbd?

Risperdal: No.  Any med can do anything. If he does not have this rare side effect stick with it.

will weaning baby off the breast increase risk of weight gain if i have hashi's and hypo from it?  till now i have lost all my baby weight but scared

Accepted Answer

Depends on eating: One has to eat a lot less after stopping breastfeeding. Breast milk is about 20 calories per ounce (not even counting the calories needed to produce the milk). So, if a baby was drinking 24 ounces of breast milk a day, the mom would have to cut her intake by at least 480 calories a day (20 calories x 24 ounces = 480 calories).
