This is very common and often patients will get frustrated thinking they just have to bear the pain. The adjustments are minor and i encourage patients to come in every few days at the beginning if they get sore spots.

Rinse w/ warm water: Then gently work the dentures loose. Also, clean off any adhesive still on your gums with a moistened washcloth. It sounds like you may be using too much adhesive, which is a sign of dentures that no longer fit well. It is important to see your dentist or prosthodontist regularly to make sure the dentures are properly relined and adjusted. You should not need more than a few dabs of adhesive.

See your dentist: You can place anbesol on the sore area under the denture while you wear it. I would recommend seeing your dentist and asking for a prescription of magic mouthwash. It can be made at the pharmacy and contains a (1:1:1) ratio of viscous lidocaine, benadryl, (diphenhydramine) and maalox liquids. Also this is an indication that the denture may need an adjustment. See your dentist as soon as you can.

No : It is actually a different type of formulation meant to stay in place for a few days and then dissapear.  I have  found over the years that people that try and repair it themselves actually do more harm than good.  It may make it even more difficult to repair your denture properly.  Best not to take the risk.
