Wasp sting: A wasp sting swells because the sting is accompanied by release of a venom which produces inflammation at the site of the sting.  This causes the swelling.

: They test very different things. Discuss with your allergist who knows exactly what tests were done and how to interpret them. Avoid wasps and bees. Ask if u need to carry an allergy pen for injections.

Stinger: Remove stinger by scraping along edge of skin with a credit card.  Clean area with soap ; warm water.  Apply ice in 10 minute increments; alternating 10 on ; 10 off.  Try a bag of cold peas.  You can take meds like tylenol, (acetaminophen) Aspirin or Motrin for pain or Benadryl for swelling.  Make a paste of 2 parts baking soda ; 1 part water ; apply.  By the way, usually bees leave a stinger.

Scraping: Remove stinger by scraping along edge of skin with a credit card or another sharp edged object. If the stinger is removed with tweezers it is important not to squeeze the venom sack (at the base of the stinger). Clean with soap & warm water. Apply ice in 10 minute. Increments; alternating 10 on & 10 off. Tylenol, (acetaminophen) Aspirin or Motrin for pain or Benadryl for swelling.

just found out im very allergic to beesdoes that mean i cant eat raw or unfiltered honey now? and do i have to worry about the same reaction from other bugs that have stingers too, like hornets, wasps, etc?

: Allergic to bee sting does not mean you can not eat or drink honey; however, it does put you at risk for the other stinger species close to bees.

Make a paste of 2 parts baking soda ; 1 part water ; apply.  Insure you have had tetanus shot in the last 10 years. Throat, airway or tongue  swelling – call 911.

At least for 4-6 hrs: Most serious reactions will occur immediately or within the first 30 minutes. However reactions can be delayed and you want to stay alert and vigilant for many hours after multiple stings.
