Neuropathy : Diabetes can cause neuropathy (nerve damage) from the high blood sugars. You should be evaluated for diabetes and get treated as indicated.

Hard to say: We think of  nerve injury, paresthesias, tendonitis or a vascular  issue.  It is on the top of  the  foot but does it go into the toes or stay on the top. These are clues. Does anything bring it on? These are  sympom to discuss with your  physician.

Not clot!: No, not a blood clot. Some of your nerve branches may have been irritated by tight fitting footwear or trauma. Please modify your footwear. if symptoms persist, need to see a podiatrist.

Probably nerve: Sounds like an intermittent nerve compression.  The fact that it is 5-10 seconds and does not stop you from activities, i would guess it is minor; however, pay attention to when it comes and goes to determine what might be triggering it - position, movement or even food.  Keep notes.

Support / Stretching: Most likely, arch pain/aching/burning is the result of plantar fasciitis.  This ligament acts like a 'bow string' spanning from the ball of your foot to the bottom of your heel.  The combination of rest, stretching (standing calf stretch), supportive running shoes/arch supports are a good start to rule in and treat this problem.

Since, you mention a cold extremity, you need to differentiate if the extremity is legitimately colder or just feels like that. If there is sudden onset coldness in one extremity, the concern would be a decrease in blood flow and needs to be assesses promptly. You need to set up an appt with your internist asap.

or you could have a vein that is irritated there, make sure nothing is pressing, again try support, or you may have a bit of nerve involvement. Take B 6

I would recommend following up with a Foot and Ankle Specialist to evaluate you closely.
