Nose mucus: There is a good chance you have a chronic subacute sinus infection.  There are saline solutions that can be used to rinse out the nasal passages through the nose and out the mouth.  Takes practice, and will clean out the nares so the sinuses can drain.  Mucinex (guaifenesin) OTC taken with extra water orally all day.  Seeing you Dr is also important, my need an antibiotic.  Use a cool mist humidifier at night.

It happens: This far out it is unlikely that what you have is related to the prior illness. Most of these are simple respiratory viruses. If it slows you down enough you need to schedule a visit.

Nose: If youve had a recent chest xray to make sure your lungs are okay it may be as simple as needing to drink more water and have a humidifier at night. You should see an ENT to see if its sinus related which may mean a ct scan of the sinuses

Community Acquired: Walking pneumonia is a definition of a pneumonia acquired outside of a hospital.  Pneumonia usually causes fever, cough, shortness of breath and fatigue.

Yes: This is more a descriptive term than a real diagnosis. Any kid who is taking fluids well enough to be treated for pneumonia by mouth, rather than hospitalized for an IV is often labeled walking pneumonia.

Clinical appearance: Bacterial pneumonia could be life threatening especially in elderly population, but majority of the time, infection is below the vocal cord and in the interstitiium, causing fever and cough and crackles in examination but not severe enough to be treated by IV antibiotics, therefore, could be treated with PO medications and patients could take it as out patient, hence walking.

Histoplasma: Your doctor probably told you histoplasma infection that healed with calcification. That is quite common in the Ohio and Mississippi river valleys. See this site for more info.

Pneumonia : Pneumonia needs to be treated with antibiotics and close monitoring for complications

i had very few asthma related problems.3 months ago i had walking pneumonia. treated. now dependent on albuterol inhaler 1-4x qd. why? will it change?

Slight chance: Asthma worsens with "colds" and the increased asthma can last for up to 4 months after a viral respiratory infection so the asthma symptoms may decrease but if they have persisted at same level for 3 months this is less likely. Since you are using  albuterol inhaler daily you should be on maintenance anti-inflammatory inhaler also. Consult your md or asthma specialist.
