yesterday i was vomiting green bile and have had diarrhea with it since sunday evening. my abdomen hurts very badly. er doctor said it was uti. what's wrong?

Could be UTI, but...: Bile is typically a golden yellow to green color. It mixes with food to help digest dietary fats. When bile backs up into the stomach, it may appear in your vomitus. Lots of common things can cause bilary emesis and affect GI function (causing altered stooling) but if persistent, worsening, or associated with pain, tenderness, weight loss, blood then please have it further evaluated by your doc.

Concerning: Bile is always concerning and can be a sign of bowel blockage.  While vomit and diarrhea can be from common infections, when bile is present it is much more concerning.  How is she today?  If no improvement you need to go to the Emergency Room right now.

It is possible you ate/drank something that is contaminated /causing indigestion. Any Peptic Ulcer history? Gall bladder could also be the issue with green bile vomiting. If symptoms persist it might be a good idea to see the PCP

Diarrhea s/p gallbla: Please contact your surgeon. may have adhesions,  scarring  , functional obstruction, .There is sometimes diarrhea after gallbladder removal due ot bile acids , may benefit form Questran (cholestyramine) call your doctor today

Go to ER: This could be something as simple as a gastroenteritis, but the severity of symptoms suggest that you need to get an urgent evaluation.  You are at high risk of getting dehydrated due to fluid loss (from both ends!), which could be a critical problem.

You should get: to a doctor asap, because it sounds like you are getting dehydration.  If you are having abdominal pain or blood in stool, it could be something serious.

Yellow GI fluids: Both the yellow diarrhea and the yellow bile color in vomitus are due to the same chemical, bile, which is produced by the liver. Normally you never see it in the stomach because normal eating keeps it moving down the GI tract. But when you vomit, and if you're stomach has no food, then all there is to see is the bile. When you're not eating regularly, the same bile will make your stool yellow.

i got sudden onset vomiting and diarrhea tuesday afternoon. i can't keep any thing down, not even water, but i have severe diarrhea. looks like bile.

Needs a doctor: you needs a medical attention between the vomiting and the diarrhea you will end up with severe dehydration you are going to need IV hydration and proper work up stay on liquid diet and  treat the symptoms eat yogurt and banana and stay hydrated

Probably gastroenteritis: You should be seen to assess for dehydration and more serious conditions such as appendicitis or cholecystitis, especially if you have never had anything surgically removed.
