Neither: Vomiting a black substancde is usually the sign of blood in the stomach or hematemesis.  Both gall bladder disease and appendicitis can cause nausea, but not usually hematemesis.  This person should be seen by their physician or seen in an er.

Black substance: Any time someone vomits dark/black substance that appears like coffee grounds that they did not ingest -  it suggests they are vomiting digested blood usually from bleeding in the stomach.  Black tarry stools that are loose suggest severe bleeding in bowel tract.  This is an emergency.  Get to the doctor.

I : I am not sure what caused you to vomit a black substance.  Hematemesis is the medical word for vomiting blood. Blood that is vomited can look black or it may be dark brown and look like coffee grounds. In some cases bright red blood  is vomited. Did you eat anything really dark?  Do you drink alcohol heavily?  Did you have a nose bleed prior to that? Are you sure you vomited up the substance and did not cough it up?

Seek care ASAP: Unless you have eaten a dark food like chocolate that would explain the color you need to seek care ASAP.Dark black or coffee ground like vomit is possibly blood.  You could have a bleeding ulcer, or leaking blood vessel.
