See below: This is done to see if there is any problems with the ureters, which lead from the kidneys to the bladder. Some children with recurrent uti's may have reflux of the urine from the bladder toward the kidneys, which is abnormal.  However, the recommendation for obtaining this study has changed. It is not recommended as frequently any more.

Yes,: that  is an abnormal post void residual.  Most common reason in a male would be prostate enlargement.  Talk to your doc about the results.

It's possible: A common presentaton with new diabetes is excessive urination with excessive thirst.  Simple blood work will give you the answer.

Yes: One should try to empty their bladder every 2-3 hours to avoid bladder emptying problems in the future. Chronic overdistention may lead to inability to void in the future. In the most severe cases kidney failure can occur. I see this problem once or twice a year. "never pass up the opportunity to urinate and void frequently".

Bladder+urethra xray: Vcug is a fluroscopic xray stud to demostrate bladder + urethra during filling + voiding. Catheter is introduced into the bladder which is slowly filled with xray contrast material, ideally with antibiotic to avoid causing a uti. Subject can hopefully urinate when bladder is full. Study demonstrates bladder + urethral abnormalities such as bladder reflux, outpouching diverticula, +voiding dynamics.

My take ...: VCUG is a special X-Ray exam to visual if one has bladder-to-ureter / kidney reflux (backflow) or urethral stricture while voiding. For details of its current or evolving indication, techniques,  alternatives, etc. over the past 2-3 decades, ask the radiologist timely.
