after taking vitamin d3 for months, i seem to feel better.  have stenosis and neuropathy but am doing well.  can that vitamin do so much?  or is it me

Yes, it can: Vitamin D is very important - especially for some folk and at certain times in life. However you may also be correct about the role you play. The combination of real action and our positive attitude is very important. It's the real value in the placebo effect and w/out it meds don't work nearly as well. Great that you're doing well! May be factors...: Lots of causes for stress and nervousness, including poor nutrition due to diet, disease, etc. Usually not the root cause, but certainly doesn't help the situation.  Vitamin d deficiency not likely to be directly related to complaints noted. B12 deficiency can cause neutopsychiatric symptoms, not usually the ones you mention. Look for other factors as well.

Depends: For a male your age to have osteoporosis, there is likely to be more factors involved. 
Consider and test for copper deficiency. Also take magnesium daily, vitamin K2 daily, and some vitamin A occasionally. Strontium can also be useful, as well as boron.
Avoid drinking coca cola or pepsi, as these damage your bones mineral balance.

Do not take vit k: Vitamin k is an antagonist for coumadin (warfarin). Another words it counteracts the effect of coumadin (warfarin). So if you need Coumadin (warfarin) you should stay away from vitamin k. Vitamin k is prescribed to stop the effect of Coumadin (warfarin) under certain circumstances like before procedures. Vitamin k has nothing to do with nerves.

Vitamin D: Although you're not taking an excessive dose, You may have raised your serum calcium level too much in view of symptoms which appeared after taking vitamin D. Ask your physician to check another vitamin D level as well as a serum calcium. If both are ok, your physician will have to investigate further and check thyroid, kidney, liver function, iron levels, B12 ,cbc,etc.

It depends on...: We can get adequate vit. D from the sun, but this depends on where you live, the season, how much time you spend in the sun, how dark your skin is etc. Most people benefit from vit. D3 from oct through april, & even all year if you don't spend much time in the sun or use sunscreen. A good dose for most people is 2000-5000 units/day. It may help to test your levels. Optimal levels are 50-80 ng/ml.
