Diet: Diet with foods with Iron is a great way to absorb Iron.  Good sources of Iron include shellfish, spinach, legumes, red meat, pumpkin seeds, quinoa, turkey, broccoli, Tofu, dark chocolate, fish. Eat up and stay strong.

Vit c: In general, yes.  Vit C up to about 500 mg per day is perfectly safe.

Not indicated: It is not necessary for an otherwise healthy male in late 20s to take a vitamin c supplement. But it woudn't hurt take some within reason. It would be better to get vitamins from whole foods.

Controversial!: I believe 300mg per day is enough.  Some physicians believe that 1000mg/day is ok. I disagree!

Yes. : Recommended dietary allowance (rda) for vitamin c in mg/day
infants 0-6 months: 40
7-12 months: 50 
children: 1-3 years: 15
4-8 years: 25 
9-13 years: 45
girls: 14-18 years: 65
boys: 14-18 years: 75
men: age 19 and older: 90  women: age 19 and older 75  smokers or if around secondhand smoke at any age, add 35 mg/d. Higher amounts of vitamin c are needed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Vitamin C: Too much vitamin C will give you the runs.  If this happens, back off the dose about 10 % until they stop.  Taken orally, vitamin C lasts about 12 hours in your body. Better to take smaller doses twice daily.  Peace and good health.
