No: No, the position of your glasses doesn't adversely affect your eyes, but will alter the proper focus of the light entering through the lenses. Of course it also depends on how strong the prescription is, with extremely high degrees myopia or hyperopia the vertex difference does make a difference. Also the eyelashes do flick moisture onto the lenses altering clarity. You should make sure lenses fit.

why can't they make a progressive eye glass lens where the vision for intermediate and reading is wider... even to the edge of the frame?

Accepted Answer

Not optically done: Progressive lenses have two issues:  1) giving a continuous grind to allow for several distances of clear vision and 2) cosmetic optics so that the continuous grind is not evident.  They could make a lens with a much larger optic as you are hoping for but this would produce obvious optical distortions that would make the lens look odd and would not reach the edge of the lens anyway.

Yes, get an eye exam: I would get an eye exam to rule out any problems that might cause this, although it is likely that the eyes will be found to be completely healthy.  There are a few relatively rare conditions that could cause bilateral central vision blurring upon awakening, and it would be good to rule these out. A complete exam should be done, including dilation, to check the retinal and optic nerve health also.

Normal for you: If wearing eyeglasses corrects it, this means a refraction (cornea most likely)  problem and not from something internally wrong with your eyes.

Not really: Eye activity does not cause retina damage.  Please use protective glasses(goggle) when you do glass work or any activity that may cause trauma to the eye.  You will need eye exam for cataract evaluation and for refraction.  You may need up dated glasses or cataract surgery to help with blurriness.

Question not clear: Alternating dry and watery eyes could come from either eyelid hygiene issues or allergies or lack of adequate breaks from computer use or a combination of these.  Try a program of cleaning the eyelashes well with warm washcloth daily, get plenty of sleep, stay away from irritants like smoke and sunlight.  If symptoms persist see an eye doctor.

Different symptoms : Floaters don't have "pressure-like" feelings. It sounds like you're experiencing pain when pushing on your eyes. Well don't do it then. Blurred vision could be a need for new glasses. You're old enough for reading glasses, which are fine. Because your symptoms are varied, an exam would be very helpful to sort them out. An eye tumor would be a very unlikely concern, but again an exam will help.
