Low risk: There is less chance of an adverse reaction if you have already tolerated the drugs before. You didn't know how they will affect you before the oral surgery, now you know.

Good for you: Glad to hear acdf (cervical spine surgery) has worked out for you with no pain or spasms for 10 days. At 10 days out, valium & Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) would be used as needed. If there is no pain, insomnia, anxiety or spasms, there is no good reason to take these. Persistent cough, numbness, difficulty swallowing should be reported to the spine surgeon.

Talk to your doctor : This is ok short term.  Talk to your doctor about weaning valium. The dose needs to stay low and short term use only (less than 1-2 months). An escalation of dose or long term use would not be appropriate and place you at risk for addiction to these medications. Do not combine with any alcohol or other medication.  Don't drive if drowsy. Always talk to your doctor before any med changes. Bst wishs

Yes.: But i would discontinue the valium  --  too much incidence of problems with this drug, especially associated with the opiate you're taking.
If you need a muscle relaxant, there are safer alternatives.
Ask your doctor.

Tranquilizer: Valium (diazepam) is an older benzodiazepine tranquilizer.  It was the #1 prescribed drug (of any kind) in the us in the late 1960s but is used less now due to drug interactions and active metabolites.  It is still used for anxiety and as "pre-medication" for uncomfortable medical and minor surgical procedures.  It is habit-forming, should not be used with alcohol, and may impair driving.

Several uses: valium, or diazepam, can be used for many things.  It is used to treat anxiety, as a sedative before surgery, seizures, muscle spasms, and to prevent seizures in alcohol withdrawal.

shouldn't be: All medications, whether branded or generic, sold in the United States, are required by the food and drug administration (fda) to have plus or minus twenty per cent of the stated dose to be legal.
So a medication which states 10mg can have between 8 and 12 mgs, which for some patients, may make a noticeable difference in their treatment.  But 50 % difference should not be possible.
