Infections/trauma: Eardrum damage/perforation is typically due to chronic ear infections or trauma which can lead to hearing loss as well as other symptoms. Typically a ruptured eardrum can heal in the first few weeks. It can take months or it can not heal at all and require a surgery to repair. Most heal on their own. The most important thing is to have a specialist follow you closely to see how it is healing.
