Rush in the head : Several things come to mind. Changes in blood pressure; from dehydration, anemia, faulty brain signals,   or temperature changes or low blood sugar. Then there are patients who describe this symptom that is an expression of mental health issues like anxiety. The best way to figure this out is to speak to your primary care doctor

how do i know if i have immune system deficiency?

Accepted Answer

Immune deficiency: Usually, a person with an immune system deficiency suffers from an abnormal number or infections. To rule out CVID, an adult immunodeficiency requiring IV IG treatment, you need to see an immunologist who will test your reaction to vaccines like the Pneumovax or Prevnar (pneumococcal vaccine) among other parameters. Please ask your usual physician for a referral to an immunologist after ruling out other causes.

shouldn't people be screened for complement system deficiencies and/or dysfunction before being vaccinated?  aren't vaccines harmful to these people?

Accepted Answer

No screening: If someone has symptoms of immune dysfunction, they should be tested for it.  Screening a bunch of people for a relatively uncommon condition for which early intervention does not change the course of the disease does not make sense. Also, people with certain immune dysfunctions should be vaccinated. Depends on the vaccine and the dysfunction.

i found out that i have anemia (iron deficiency kind). how quickly will i be able to get enough iron back into my system?

Depends: There are many different ways to get iron.  Dietary iron will help but is probably the slowest method.  Oral iron supplements can vary in their absorption but do work for most people.  Also for those who dont respond to oral iron or need their iron improved in a hurry there are injectable and IV iron preparations which can be give.  Ask your doctor which is right for you.

Yes: The symptoms you are experiencing may be related to peri-menopausal status. That is a normal condition and you should not worry.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Inflammation: Complement components are phase reactants and go up with inflammation. This is a non specific finding.

Use as directed: If you take a multivitamin with iron, and eat iron-rich foods, there should not be any risk of overload. If you use otc supplements as directed for more severe cases, your dr should provide a duration of treatment--it should not be taken for extended periods without some form of monitoring. If a menstruating female, regular blood loss usually both causes the need and prevents excess buildup.

: Good question. Go to pubmed.gov and enter Vit D AND immune system to get worlds lit.  Read and discuss with dr. Never seen information to suggest it does.

does folic acid deficiency cause irreversible nervous system damage?

Accepted Answer

Not usually, but : Do you really have Folic Acid deficiency?  If so, you could have elevation of homocysteine, which could be a risk of heart attack and/or stroke.  If this is the case, have your doc check for an mthfr (tt or ct allele genetic condition), as this could be quite a problem if not addressed.  The tt is relatively uncommon, but must be treated.
