Degenerative or metabolic neurological conditions along with medication side effects make up the vast majority of the other causes.  Since tremors vary in their frequency (the speed of the tremor), their direction, their severity, and their course, a neurologist should perform an evaluation.

Tremor: Most tremor is benign, not harmful but talk to your pcp as there are many different  types of tremor. Carpal tunnel an other isolated peripheral nerve issues are not typically the cause of tremor but may co exist with it. Diet, medications, neurolgical issues, endocrine or hormonal  imbalance. The list is so long that one really needs to sit down with a pcp to investigate

Many possibilites: At your age, benign (not a disease) tremor which is inherited can start.  It is more apparent when you focus on a task, and disappears when you rest or relax.  Tremor occurs with some medicines, toxic exposures, alcohol use and withdrawal, fatigue of small muscles and electrolyte imbalance.  A simple examination of your nervous system and some blood tests is in order.

Multiple causes: Tremors in hands can be associated  with Parkinson's disease that may or may not have percieved weakness but the most common cause of shaking hands is actually essential tremor that usuallly does not have weakness.There are multiple other causes,some associated with weakness,some just shaking.

Meds or surgery: The first line treatments for "essential" tremor include propanolol and primidone.  These medications reduce the symptoms to the point that the patient is better able to function but they are not curative.  In some cases, the tremor progresses to a point where the medications do not provide much help, and there are brain surgeries that may be considered at that point.

Hand tremors: The surgery which was done was for another reason than the tremors---i do not know if it was for a disc or carpal tunnel or what, but not for tremors---tremors come from brain----
tremors have a lot of causes depending if at rest, during action or intention.

: Could be. Folate is essential for blood formation and neural function. It would be imperative to get tested for B12 and folate, as it is not safe to take folate supplement in the presence of B12 deficiency.

should i be concerned about jaw/hand tremors? it's as if i were shivering cold, but very slight; not really visible but i feel it all the time.

Yes: I would recommend an evaluation by a neurologist.  There are some medications that can cause this as a side effect or there could be a neurological condition that is developing.
