Inflammation: The suffix "itis" on the end of words means inflammation.  The labyrinth is a structure in the region of the middle ear which helps you to maintain your balance.  When it becomes inflamed (by infectious or other causes) you may have severe dizziness with nausea and vomiting resulting.  Usually resolves spontaneously but u may be quite ill for a while.

i've had vertigo for a week. comes and goes without any pattern or trigger. but was consistent all day today. feels like spinning or rocking on a boat?

Vertigo: Sensation of spinning while stationary, associated with nausea or vomiting, unsteadiness, difficulty walking, blurred vision.

i had some extreme vertigo for a week straight a couple months ago. i went to a ent doc, and she told me my ears were good. i have not had that before, or since then. what do you think that was? no other symptoms, but very dizzy everyday for a week?

: Although not feasible to be precise, it is possible that you experienced an episode of viral labyrinthritis, which is acute, self limited, and usually, not repetitive.

Almost certainly not: 3 possibilities come to mind: 1) drug side effect; 2) the ENT missed something; 3) something in the central nervous system. If you self-referred to the ENT, see a general doctor (PCP) for an overall assessment. If you were referred by a doc, go back to him/her. You may need a 2nd ENT or neurologist's opinion. But go through your medlist first.

Vertigo: Most cases of persistant vertigo are treatable. Need a diagnosis. For example methazolamide works for cochlear hydrops.

First Step: is to determine the cause if they can. It could be as simple as an ear infection  which would clear up with antibiotics. There are also other medications that may help depending on the underlying factors. See either a GP or an specialist in Ears Nose &amp; Throat for evaluation and treatment.

Vertiogo: True vertigo is a balance disorder, not to be confused with dizziness which may or may not be tru vertigo. A thorough work up by an ENT including electronystagmogram   should help with the diagnosis.

Not from pregnancy: This developed too long after your pregnancy to have been directly caused by the pregnancy.  You need to be checked with particular attention to the inner ear.

i had vertigo 2 years ago but seemed to recovered from it. i sometimes have issues but nothing major. i'm flying next week will it bring back vertigo?

Probably not.: Would take decongestant  before boarding plane and chew gum during whole flight
