Ask radiologist: This may be a legitimate question to ask the radiologist who viewed your mri.  You should make sure that he is aware of your medical history when he takes a second look at the mri.  He may also suggest that you do  a ct angiogram or a mra study (rather than a non contrast mri) to specifically key in on the blood vessels of that region.

Vertebral artery sx: The typical presentation of vertebral artery dissection is a young person with severe occipital headache and posterior neck pain following a recent, relatively minor, head or neck injury. Other symptoms:  facial pain and numbness, speech difficulty, hoarseness, loss of pain and temperature sensation in the trunk and limbs, loss of taste, hiccups, vertigo, nausea, double vision, or problem swallowi.

Vascular Steal: When complications of vascular disease create neurologic symptoms, it's best to confer with a vascular surgeon and neurologist.  In most instances, antitcoagulant therapy may be indicated to prevent clots but this depends on "global" disease burden in the head and other health risks.  Sometimes vascular stenting can help but given the location, not an option presently.  Good BP control essential.

Vertebral artery: ...Dissection is a rare condition / trauma. Often there are just intimal tears (or disruptions on the inside layer of the vessel) and only seldomly is there a true dissection. Symptoms can vary greatly b/w patients, but contra-lateral symptoms are not common. It has to do with the bloodvessel ring at the base of the brain that typically connects the left-and-right sides together. U have more info?

my dominant left vertebral artery 'abutes' my brainstem without compression. my right vertebral artery is hypoplastic terminating in pica. 10+ radiologists say this is common variation & neurologists say shouldn't cause symptoms. true?

: It is not feasible to provide a more meaningful opinion, in this forum, than that provided by neurologists who examined you and your imaging studies. 
For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

Brain blood supply: Not necessarily! Your brain also gets blood supply from the carotid arteries in the front of your neck. The part of your brain that gets blood from the vertebral arteries can get blood supply from the carotid arteries through the circle of Willis that connects the carotid arteries to the vertebral arteries.

Normal variant: Hypoplastic right vertebral artery implies that this artery is very small and its function is taken over by the left vertebral artery. This is a normal variant and does not cause any problems unless you develop significant blockage in the left vertebral artery such as happens with vertebral artery dissection.

Agree with him: We are different in one way or another. The vertebral arteries help feed the brain. They don't have to be the same diameter.  As long as they are delivering enough blood to your brain.
