No: The deep facial muscles are constricting or tugging on the deep facial vein or one of its tributaries. The anatomy here is extremely variable from person to person and I wouldn't give it another thought.

Normal: Neck veins distend when we lie with our head lower than our heart or when we strain.  With straining, the pressure within the chest increases and the blood flow through the neck veins decrease resulting in them enlarging.  This is normal. Levels  of hydration, genetics, outside temperature and any increase in pressure within the chest will enlarge the neck veins. Your veins are most likely normal.

Yes: If you are exhaling, that forces blood up into your head, so that's normal.

Probably normal: Your jugular vein will pulsate normally with each heart beat (visually at least). Exaggerated pulsation in the jugular vein can be a sign of a cardiac problem however, and should be pointed out to your doctor.

Calm down: Anger causes one to strain, thus increasing the pressure within the chest.  This pressure is transmitted to the veins in the chest, and upwards to the head and neck area, resulting in bulging veins, increased redness.  A good example is when one sees a singer holding a note, or when a weight lifter strains to hold the barbells.  Relax, count to ten taking slow breaths in and out to hide them.

my son is almost 6 months old and when he gets mad and cries he has this vein the pops out of his neck and it gets dark. should i be worried?

: Crying naturally increases the general vein pressure by backing up the blood flowing back into the heart. The effect is seen most above the breathing muscle in the upper half of the body. You are quite observant. It is natural and poses no risk to baby.

De-stressing: You can try massage, or shopping spree.  Or if you were me, a musical concert (classical or symphonic, not hard rock or metal) and a glass of wine in the evenings.  Good luck.

i have had a headache for about 4 days now and yesterday i also started experiencing pain in what feels like the vein on the right side of my neck.

Possibly migraine: It is not common to have a headache that lasts for 4 days.  Migraine headaches which often cause throbbing pain could last this long. i have 3 stents one within the upper half of the left and one in the lower internal juggler vain and one left innominate vein ever since i have had really bad pain on the side of my neck, could any of this stints be causing my pain ?

: Somewhat hard to say, but not uncommon. I’d recommend a follow-up visit with whomever placed your stents to be certain they have not clotted/stenosed nor migrated. Best to you, and certainly hope you have changed your diet and lifestyle to improve your cardiovascular health!

Neck veins will distend with certain disease situation of heart and lung and central veins.
