Accepted Answer

No and no: The veins drain blood away from tissue, and sometimes they are located closer to the skin in some women, which makes them more visible.  In young women, such as you at age 16, the breasts are developing and responding to hormone signals.  I would not worry.  And please no plastic surgery!  Best wishes!

Veins: A fair number of women have a visible vein on or near the breast.  If the vein is close enough to the skin it will be visible.  It doesn't mean anything is wrong.  These are more visible after pregnancy often.

Thrombophlebitis: This sounds like a superficial vein has developed a blood clot.  You need to see your physician. For evaluation.  An ultrasound can determine if the clot is superficial or is actually in deeper vein.  The treatment may range from simple anti-inflammatory, local heat, compression, thrombolytic, or anticoagulation therapy.

Normal: Breasts can vary in size including areola. This is the way your body formed. Unless it is disease related: get a breast exam- i would not recommend surgery. In the final analysis- yes it is normal- plastic surgery would be a last resort.

Asymmetrical breast: It is perfectly normal to have veins larger on one side than the other.  Breasts are generally not symmetrical in size and anatomy.

Yes: Changes in hormones can cause enlargement of the breast and dilation of the veins, making the veins more visible.  Totally within the spectrum of normal.  If they bother you, a vein specialist or phlebologist can perform sclerotherapy.

Veins: this is not unusual to have the veins in your breasts to be different. This should not cause you any problem and the pain is probably unrelated.If it persists let a doctor see and determine the cause

Best Get It Checked: This may be the start of inflammation in that vein and then it might clot (thrombose) and hurt more. Maybe it's just a dilated vein, but it's worth getting it checked out. Thrombosed veins could indicate something else is going on and it's best to get a professional to look at it.
