while getting a hydration iv infusion, the rn accidentally put an iv my brachial artery not in my vein, it was removed but i have a hematoma about a quarter size now. it was iced it right away and the swelling has gone down. should i be concerned?

: No concern. Probably you'll have a bruise, but otherwise no harm.

why does my leg swell and pain after vigorous execise? had a gunshot to the common femoral artery and vein. 2yrs ago. repaired by graft.

Femoral vein repair: Suspect have already answered your question but this one a bit different.  Pain with exercise in your situation could relate to narrowing or occlusion of either repaired vessel. At very least need an ultrasound and would suggest you see a vascular surgeon.

will i develop varicose veins in my lower leg  from rigorous.i injured both my femoral vein and artery and had graft repair and a end to end ?

Not likely: If you had a repair of the femoral artery and vein, i would be more concerned about deep vein problems than varicose veins. In either case, i would recommend the use of compression stockings to prevent any long- term issues.

Pain: If you have injured your brachial artery, there would be less blood flowing to your hand -- you would notice that it may be cold or painful. There may also be swelling in the area of the injury, a hematoma, where the brachial artery is bleeding.

Need an examination.: Your condition sounds strangely like something known as an exertional compartment syndrome.  Usually chronic, but can be aggravated with strenuous exercise. After resting ,the pain goes away. Having said that, it might be something else involving the arm.

just had emergency brachial artery thromboletomy.  how much should i bend &straighten my arm so it doesn't stiffen. 4 inch incision is very painful. have to force my arm to straighten. don't want to to irritate/open incision.  recovery time? work?

Postoperative : You really should be in contact with the surgeon who did this procedure or a member of his staff for postoperative advice. This does nor require going to the office unless they advise you to be examined in person.

Vessels constrict: smooth muscle in artery walls MAY constrict the artery and prevent life threatening hemorrhage in some cases.

Collateral : Means additional blood vessels. Distal means further away or running towards the extremities, if you have collateral circulation this is a good thing.....

Perhaps a fistula: Arterial blood flow has three phases, rapid forward flow systolic flow, transient reversal of flow during early diastole, and slow forward flow during late  diastole.  In your case, there appears to be some change in the diastolic flow, suggesting that there may be some connection that has formed over time or resulted from some trauma.  The significance depends on the clinical history and findings.
