No solids: NO SOLID FOODS FOR 48 HOURS
Force fluids: 8-10 glasses/day:
Electrolyte rich fluids- Gatorade, Powerade, Vitamin Water
Protein rich fluids: broth bullion, consume.
AVOID ALL CITRUS JUICES: orange, grapefruit, pineapple, cranberry etc.

Caffeine free?: generally speaking it is not the gluten or the dairy that irritate gastritis unless you have celiac disease and you are lactose intolerance it is the caffeine that increase the a it and irritate the lining of the stomach and make gastritis worst in spite of taking medication so check the caffeine content

Diet: Tomatoes (often called a vegetable but actually a fruit) are often very good for gastritis. Citrus is best avoided. The easiest way to add fiber to your diet is to get a jar of Millers bran and throw a teaspoon into everything you eat. It has no detectable taste and therefore can be added to anything.

had upper gi endoscopy recently, have gastritis and only on bland boiled vegetables diet. will taking vitamin c tablets help me heal faster?

A lot faster with Rx: Unless there are other inciting risks to inflammation in your stomach (like h.Pylori, tobacco, too liberal alcohol, Aspirin or other nsaid's, etc.) your gastropathy will likely heal within a few weeks. Of course, you can speed up the healing process by starting an acid blocker drug like Prilosec otc daily.  Vitamin c and boiled vegetables is not the answer.

Diet for GI problems: The recommended diet would be different for each of those G.I. problems. The best diet for you would depend on which of these are actually causing you the most symptoms.  I would see a gastroenterologist to help sort out your predominant problem and base your diet on that. Until then, a high fiber diet low in citrus fruits and tomatoes would be a good place to start. Suggestions 4 ulcer: Once you've ruled out &amp;/or treated H.pylori and avoided nsaid's, combine acid suppression medication with the following: minimize meal size as well as intake of alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, fatty/fried foods, fizzy drinks. Advice changes, of course, if ulcers are due to crohn's, cancer, "stress-related" (systemic disease), caustic ingestion, etc. Check with diagnosing doctor who knows you best.

No one size fits all: Your answer is quite complicated. If serious conditions and food allergies and insenstivities have all been excluded, it is a great idea to keep a food diary. Keep track of what foods agree with your system and which foods agravate your digestive tract. Alcohol and coffee and spicy foods should be avoided.

i was told i have gastritis. do i have to live with it? does it go away/ heal? once it heal can i go back to my normal diet?

Cause=Cure: Gastritis just means "inflammation of the stomach."  there are many causes of this from medications, like Aspirin and advil, (ibuprofen) to a bacteria, called h. Pylori.  Most of the time gastritis is temporary and can be treated so that you will be able to return to your normal diet.  Find out the cause, and you'll find out the cure.

Depends: It depends on the severity of the gastritis. Without medications like prilosec, bland diet, avoidance of caffeine, alcohol and stress it may take weeks to heal. If you're not feeling better by now see your physician or a gastroenterologist.

i have chronic gastritis. my dr gave me protonix 40mg twice a day and 40 mg famotine at bedtime. doing lot better .but on this now for 3 months. watching my diet. what your thoughts?

: It sounds like you have pretty bad gastritis! That is a high dose of two drugs that both decrease acid production, and while can be used together it is not that common, especially for a long period of time. Some follow-up after three months to decide if both drugs are still needed is advisable. I would think someone has looked at your stomach (called an EGD). These meds have side effects over time
