Varicocele: Varicocele is very similar to varicose veins in the legs. Is due to imcomptence of the valves inside the veins that prevent backflow of blood that is bein returned to the right side of your heart. It occurs mostly on the left side because the left testicular vein travels straight up into the vein of the left kidney as opposed to the right one that travels at an angle into the vena cava(big vein).

This results in backflow of blood into the pampiniform plexus and causes increased pressures, which on rare occasion can lead to permanent damage to the testicular tissue due to disruption of normal supply of oxygenated blood via the testicular artery.
