Tranquilizer: Valium (diazepam) is an older benzodiazepine tranquilizer.  It was the #1 prescribed drug (of any kind) in the us in the late 1960s but is used less now due to drug interactions and active metabolites.  It is still used for anxiety and as "pre-medication" for uncomfortable medical and minor surgical procedures.  It is habit-forming, should not be used with alcohol, and may impair driving.

However, 50% of gad patients have poor response to first-line treatments (buoli et al 2013)  quetiapine seems to have the most robust evidence  of efficacy.

i am on a new mixture if medication and im kind of concerned with mixing any of them. im on 300mg of welbutrian, 10mg ambian, 400mg seroquel, (quetiapine) and 10mg valium as needed but not exceeding 20mg a day?

: Maybe/not. At least in theory men get a pass on many exposures when related to conception/birth defects. Sperm  are generated in the millions and created continuously. Any fraction that are altered tend to be poor swimmers &amp; less likely to make it through the distance to conception than the healthy ones. Women don't get that break as eggs remain subject to any exposure and are limited in number.

Alternative: If another medication in this class (benzodiazepines) is being sought, it may depend on the reason why you need to come off Klonopin (clonazepam). Valium has many break down products &amp; is not always a great addition if medical problems. Ativan/lorazepam unlikely to have negative impact on the liver (unlike some of the others) but is relatively short acting. Please additional information on reason. Thanks!

New government regulations have resulted in restricted use of these products.  while this has resulted in less prescriptions the overdoes deaths are still rising - this implies that prescriptions were not the cause of overdose deaths.
