Years: The pap test has been around for decades before we understood the relationship of strains of HPV with 95%+ of cervical cancer. It serves as an early warning system so pre-cancer changes can be found &amp; removed before it develops. Studies site as many as 70% are HPV positive by the mid 20's, but the cancer is usually found in older women. Pap smears remain a good &amp; necessary health investment.

Treat for best guess: Diagnosis of vaginal discharge can be difficult. Yellow color suggests infection. Depending on exact tests done, some infections can be missed, e.g. gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas. Talk to your doctor about being retested. If available, include the new DNA test for trich, much more accurate than wet mount. It may be necessary to treat for the best guess, without proof of diagnosis. Good luck!

Re evaluate: You may not have yeast, or now have irritation from the cream. Go see your doctor for evaluation and treatment. Don't use any over the counter creams. Apply olive oil over the vulva.

how can i know if i have stds?i went to the gyn and she said everything was al right after i had candidiasis.but it came back again and im worried if that could be something else like a stds.i had anal/vaginal intercourse. she made a pap test,negat.

Probably no STD: Yeast (Candida) symptoms are quite different than most STDs. If you were tested and negative for the standard STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas) and symptoms and exam typical for yeast, the diagnosis probably is correct. Discuss again with your doctor if you remain concerned or uncertain.
