Yes some times: Not unusual , procedure & possibly Foley catheter used during procedure gave irritation and mild cystitis, drink fluids , will clear soon , speak to your doctor if you need any antibiotics.

Many possibilities : There are many things that can cause vaginal burning regardless of whether or not you have a hysterectomy. Burning pain is a classic description of nerve pain and can be caused by any of the things that cause neuropathy including nerve damage at the time of surgery. Hopefully this helps. Some of the meds used for neuropathy like neurontin or cymbalta (duloxetine) can help frequently.

i am 55 yrs. old, had a complete hysterectomy 7 yrs. ago, been experiencing burning around the vaginal opening. could this be vaginal atrophy?

Likely!: It definitely could be. The vagina is very sensitive to hormone levels.  Without estrogen, it gets thin.  This can burn or tear.  There are a couple of options for this so see your gynecologist. Good luck!

See answer: Most common causes of vaginal burning are infectious vaginitis (bv, yeast, std) which likely have already been ruled out. Irritant-related and atrophic vaginitis and lichen sclerosis usually evident on basis of hx and exam. Dark urine usually a reflection of concentrated urine if urinalysis otherwise normal. To me, your description is suggestive of "vulvodynia" and possible "interstitial cystitis".

i just had a complete laparoscopic hysterectomy a week and a half ago. i immediately started taking clindamycin after but i have an unpleasant vaginal odor. no itching, burning, or discharge just slight bleeding. is the smell normal?

Get checked by GYN: You need to get the vaginal odor examined for an infection by the GYN MD who did the surgery. An unpleasant odor  post-op is usually  one of the first signs of a surgical site infection

since vaginal total hysterectomy 9 months ago been having extreme itching both vaginal and anal as well as burning and stinging. urine test shows minimal bacteria. neg for yeast urine shows blood in urine  what could it possibly be.  very painful ?

Interstitial : cystitis, or atrophic, bacterial, yeast vaginitis, are possibilities. Evaluation and testing is an option with your doctor.

Atrophy?: Atrophic vaginitis or desquamative vaginitis can cause the vaginal symptoms, as can other infections besides yeast, like bacteria and viruses. The treatments are all very different, so you'd need a gyn specialist to sort it out. As far as the llq pain, it may or may not be related, but it could be caused by a stone, or an ovarian cyst. But a kidney stone wouldn't cause vaginal burning.

recently had a lupron injection and will be getting a hysterectomy. now having the side effects like hot flashes. im also breaking out in red bumps all over my face, little heat in my vaginal area, and some burning when i urinate. std or hormones?

: Sudden variation in available ovarian estrogen can produce dermatologic effects, as well as "hot flashes".  Obtain a urinalysis to make sure there is no bladder infection, and a culture/blood test to check for STD's, from a visit with your GYN physician.

can a hysterectomy cause shorter vagina?

Yes: The vagina gets a bit shorter after a typical hysterectomy (1 cm or so).  With a radical hysterectomy, a type of hysterectomy done for cervical cancer, it can get substantially shorter.
