i have a uti and am experiencing flu-like symptoms such as mild fever, swollen lymph nodes, and pressure in ears. i'm extremely concerned. flu, symptoms of uti, or something much worse?

Concurrent virus: A simple UTI will not cause fever though if it's a kidney infection rather than bladder infection you'll have a fever. But a UTI will never cause swollen lymph nodes (in your neck) or pressure in ears, so you seem to have a viral infection at the same time as your UTI. There is no law that says you can't have a UTI and viral infection at the same time. This is probably not flu but a milder virus.

can flu like symptoms be caused by a uti? i have a super public catheter and feel so ill. i do have a uti hot n cold flushes?

Yes.: Septicemia can cause fever, chills. Please go to an urgent care center, your usual doctor or emergency room for a urine culture and studies.

Need exam: This could be another urinary tract infection or a sexually transmitted infection. It is important that you go to a doctor and get your urine checked again and have a pelvic exam.

HIV ?'s: Your symptoms are probably not related to HIV, but to actual influenza, possible oral yeast infection and a UTI.  See your physician for an exam and testing.

Any number: Of things can cause these symptoms, outside of the urinary tract.  Some examples are pelvic infection, abscess, or tumor.  Have it checked out.

Being pregnant or...: Being pregnant or not pregnant can both be associated with flu-like symptoms. That means pregnant women and non-pregnant women can both catch a flu-like illness, which of course suggests that having flu-like symptoms is not related to pregnancy. A woman should contact her primary care doctor to discuss her flu-like symptoms (means different things to different people) and ask if an exam is needed.

Neither am I: While Covid and the Flu have many symptoms in common, they also have entirely different presentations. Call yourGeneral Physician and ask if you should be tested. If so, go get tested. Anything else would just be a guess.
