Weight : Weight loss and new onset of constipation are possibly the result of dietary changes, however excluding problems in your colon is important. If you have undergone a recent colonoscopy then occasional laxative use is ok.

I am not a dialysis expert therefore cannot answer that question to your satisfaction.

Really not good idea: If you repeatedly take laxatives, i assume you feel very constipated or are looking to "cleanse." if the latter, please reconsider &amp; check out numerous healthtap answers that point to problems with colon cleansers--don't use them! if constipation is new, has significantly worsened, is accompanied by distension, vomiting, fever, pain, esp. If "colitis" (inflamed colon) is present, see doctor.

See doctor: The amount of laxative use described is far more than would be considered proper. Please see your doctor to discuss why you would need laxatives and how to stop taking.

Above and Below: When patients are sent to a Gastroenterology consultation, experience shows that they like to treat it from above and below, 17 grams of miralax in a big glass of water for 4 days and fleets enema from below for a few days. However, if you have abdominal pain or nausea, get seen in Urgent Care ASAP. Full history and exam needed. Any med conditions? Abdominal Surgery? Go to UCLA, the bestGood luck.

Take a test : If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test. They are cheap, reliable and available  at any pharmacy.  Laxatives are safe for occasional use for constipation.

what will happen if i start giving my kids a laxative once a week ages 3-7 and weight is 46 lbs to 60 lbs they are not constipated but a family member?

No to laxatives: Do not use a laxative if your children are not constipated. They have a normal stooling pattern if they are pooping every one to two days. Use of a laxative may result in loose stools if they are not constipated. Instead make sure they are eating fruits and vegetables, whole grains and drink water.

Increase fluids: decrease pain medication and can try Miralax (polyethylene glycol) over the counter.

Doubt it: It is likely just to make you very uncomfortable for a period of time &amp; give you diarrhea, but nothing else.

Ask your doc to help: It really would be best at this point if you could get your personal doctor to help you out.  By this point, it's quite possible your blood chemicals (electrolytes) are quite out of whack, and suddenly making changes now could cause life-threatening imbalances.  These can be very serious, causing seizures, heart arrhythmias amongst other side effects.  Have a doctor guide you through this slowly.

i have chronic constipation  (sometimes i go every 4 days to a week) i want to know what laxative is safe to take on a regular basis?

That history of constipation: It is a serious indictment on your diet.  Think seriously about fruit and vegetables as the major component.  Maybe a regular dose of mineral oil would help.
