A member asked:

What will happen if i start giving my kids a laxative once a week ages 3-7 and weight is 46 lbs to 60 lbs they are not constipated but a family member?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No to laxatives: Do not use a laxative if your children are not constipated. They have a normal stooling pattern if they are pooping every one to two days. Use of a laxative may result in loose stools if they are not constipated. Instead make sure they are eating fruits and vegetables, whole grains and drink water.
