Possible diabetes: Sweet smelling urine can sometimes be related to excess sugar in the urine, most often due to diabetes, though there are several metabolic problems that can cause that also.  If a person has diabetes enough to cause urine changes it can be serious so get checked out in the next few days.

Possibly diabetes: To my knowledge, uncontrolled diabetes might also cause this, but i would expect the person to also have weight loss, and frequent urination besides just a sweet smell to the urine.

No.: Diabetes tends to cause urine to be more dilute (clear) due to the glucose in the urine drawing more water in.  The symptoms of diabetes are drinking more, urinating more, eating more but losing weight.  With adult onset diabetes it can be more gradual and can be associated with obesity.  I would check with your doctor if you have not had a check up in awhile.

Possible causes: The things you eat and drink can affect the smell and appearance of both your urine and feces.  The other concern for a fruity or sweet smelling urine is the possibility of diabetes. If you have a family history of diabetes, you should see your primary care physician and have the appropriate tests performed.

See dr: Not sure why or someone else is tasting your urine. Regardless, you should go see your regular doctor for a urine test. This could be an infection but could also be a warning of something more serious with the kidney like diabetes, an autoimmune disease, etc. The only way to know for sure is to start with a full urine test at the office or lab.

Possible UTI: If you continue to have symptoms, you should have your urine evaluated for possible infection or STD.
It is possible to have an infection in the urine early on and not have abdominal pain or pain when you urinate yet.  Symptoms of abdominal pain, fever, pain in your back or pain with urination, more blood in the urine should prompt more thorough evaluation.

Diabetes: Unclear if the 7.9 is you HgA1c. But if it was that high they need to confirm a second time to make the diagnosis of diabetes. A urinalysis might be needed as well.

i have noticed when i eat sweets my urine smells sweet after. is this normal? i did have a normal hba but i had been dieting a couple of months prior. im currently being investigated for sjorgens symptoms are dry hba1c % (dcct) 5.10% no range given?

:  all carbohydrates  including sweets raise blood sugar. sweet smell occurs due to many reasons including acetone keto-acidosis and taking maple sugar. If it persists have urine checked and see your MD or Urologist
