Accepted Answer

Yes: Although it was 20 years ago, it is possible to have areas of lung that are not fully aerated on a chronic type basis. Often called atelectasis. This could be what is described by "groundglass density"  The best way to tell is with direct comparison of the old CT scan to a new one.  It is also possible that this area represents a more recent area of pneumonia.   See if a comparison can be done.

9mm lung nodule found lower lobe on abdomininal scan. follow up scan 6 months later nodule grew to 1.5 cm. pet scan no uptake former smoker 15 yrs ago?

Get biopsy/surgery: I know that your PET scan was negative, &amp; that is reassuring, but I would still recommend a biopsy because of the growth of this nodule.  If your nodule had not enlarged then u could follow with serial CT scans.  But with this growth you have a higher risk of malignancy.  You have at least a 18% chance of cancer.  Go talk to a Pulmonologist.  I would recommend a biopsy, which might require surgery

paratracheal lymph node grown from 0.6cmx1cm to 0.8cmx1.35cm over 2 years. no suv uptake on pet. have fatigue, could this be lung cancer? lungs clear.

Mgt.: I would suggest that you see a Pulmonary specialist or schedule a virtual consult with uploaded imaging studies and reports. 
Slow growth and  no increased uptake would be less consistent with malignancy. However other risk factors and symptoms should be considered.

Mgt.: A tissue biopsy and bronchial washing for cytology will help to rule out cancer. If you have a family history of cancer, smoking and any pulmonary symptoms, the risk is higher.  I would recommend an appointment with Pulmonology.

my asthma has caused my airways to narrow and my lungs to inflate. i was told that this distress signals the accessory muscles of the neck and chest into action. could this be why ive experienced an uptake in tension(?) headaches and neck pain?

Yes: Musculo skeletal pain may result in tension headaches and neck pain. if you are using your neck muscles and chest wall muscles to breathe, this may result in fatigue of the muscle and pain associated.
