3 yo has bruises on her knees and shins. one bruise has a white spot in the middle that is a hard lump size of a pea. is this normal for a bruise?

Bruising: Toddlers get lot of bruises due to frequent falls. Common sites as you mentioned, knees, shins. Bruises at different ages of healing are seen in this age group. The harder pea size lump may be a lymph node swelling within the bruised area. Lymph nodes catch bacteria, gets bigger, kill them, then slowly gets smaller, come back to its smallest size over 2-6 wk time. If still worried, talk to her doc.

what happens if the i got a bruise then hit that same spot again? will it be damaged more?

Accepted Answer

Yes: If the injury is recent, put a cold compress to limit bleeding in the tissue. After a couple of days, using warm compresses may facilitate the clearance of hematoma. You may see color changes in the skin and that is a part of the healing process.
Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol or weed.

i have a bruise which has a whitish colored spot on it, around the size of a quater that is firm to touch is this normal?

Accepted Answer

Yes: If you had some form of trauma you may develop a hematoma (blood in the tissues where you were injured), and this can be firm, tender, warm to touch.  Sometimes the coloration will vary, but since i cannot see this white area am not certain what it is, but if it does not get better in a week or so, see a doctor.

Bleeding: A number of things could cause bruising in the heel: trauma, plantar fascia tear, running, varicose veins, gout, fracture, etc.  Could be serious or nothing.  Get evaluated by doctor if painful or concerned.

Skin lesion: Have pcp or dermatologist examine the lesion. Melanomas r characterized by irregular/indistinct borders, multiple colors, elevated, increasing size. So best to have it checked. If borders are regular, distinct, uniform color, may just be a mole. Since it's getting larger, best to have it checked.

Sexual activity?: How long have these marks been there?Did they show up after sexual foreplay?There are many unusual skin marks that can result from it. Pregnancy will also change the color and size of the aureolas.

i over waxed my armpits and one still has a bruise or dark spot and it's been a week. they usually disappear in a couple of days. should i just be pat?

Bruise: Bruise can take upto 3 weeks to go depending on how much blood is under the skin. Will definitely go away if the immunity is intact.

: A bruise after an intramuscular injection is not abnormal, It can take a while for it to completely heal. Eight days seems a little long but when exactly did the bruise appear in relation to the tetanus shot? Is the bruise turning greenish/yellowish and decreasing in size-all signs it is healing? Did you have any other injury to the area after the tetanus shot? If concerned, see your doctor.

Small bleeder: You may have a small vessel that's been bleeding repeatedly. If it's a solitary bruise, it's not likely to mean much. If you're taking Aspirin products, that will contribute to the ease of bruising, but is not necessarily a reason to stop aspirin. If you think the bruise is originating from a deeper structure such as a lumpy place within muscle, and it persists, get checked out.
