More information: Sounds like a reflex spasm. Need more information about past medical history, history of regional surgery etc.

for the past year or two, when i press my fingers into my right temple area i can feel a (referred?) nerve sensation behind the right eye. for the past few weeks i can now feel this sensation behind the eye when i move my jaw in a particular way.

Evaluate: Progressive symptoms of that nature probably warrant an evaluation. Hearing poblems. Some type of tumor or mass of auditory canal, eustacian tube or posterior pharynx of concern. Possible could be  benign, but with easier provocation and persistent symptoms your concern is merited.

i hit my head just above my temple off a coffee table, it hurts when i move my jaw and there's a lump but other than that i feel ok,  will i be ok?

Yes you will: If there is no neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, dizziness, loss of conciseness, etc. You will be fine in 1 week or so.

A TMJ-oro-facial pain expert can be general dentist, an oral surgeon, prosthodontist, orofacial pain specialist. Ask your physician, dentist or dental society for a recommendation.

See an oral surgeon: Your description is vague.. on/off meaning what? Every hour, once a day, week, or month? How long does it last? Is swelling hard or soft? Obviously something is causing your condition, and it just may not be your teeth.

Temperal Arteritis: Hello, you should be evaluated by a doctor ASAP (ER or Urgent Care now!). The worse case scenario would be an inflammation of a large artery in the area you describe and the need for immediate treatment with steroid pills.  You would need  follow up with an ENT doctor to be further evaluated. They might even biopsy the blood vessel.  You could also have some other infection worth treating.
