mornings i have 5/6 on bristol chart type of stool. then other times or afternoon type 4. this morning it was green brown 5/6. eat normal no other symptoms what could this be. it has been about a week?

Constipation : You might try MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) to soften the soil and avoid straining. If that is too strong the n go back to a stool softener. Your styles should look like banana board not have any round in them an you should not be straining

should i be concerned about dark brown pasty loose stool? my 3 year old had a viral infection. on day 12 now and she's just left with this type of stool. dr not concerned. no pain and no other symptoms. been to drs, looking for 2nd opinion?

: No concerns here. Dark brown pasty stools are within normal for a three year old. Resolution of illness, and lack of any other symptoms confirms it. Over time, as his gut flora returns to normal, the stool will typically return to where he was before.

my baby is 4 days old , from birth hes had thick green mucus stools , he is both breast and bottle fed , he is passing stools that look like scrambled eggs and seems to have some discomfort, is this type of stool normal or could it be the formula?

Sounds ok, and...: Babies older than a week should have yellowish poops with the thickness of mustard or thick spaghetti sauce. Breastfeeding babies can have even looser poops. Formula-fed babies have firmer poops, but poop that holds shape would be too firm for the first 3-4 months of life. Poop gets darker, with brown and green colors blended in, and also gets firmer, as a baby gets older.

If you're in good health,like to travel a lot you may be better off without a gall bladder full of stones &amp; avoid an operation at a most inconvenient time in your life. Laparoscopic removal of the gall bladder is quite easy and successful.

Seeds, blood...: Dark-colored stools may result from iron supplements, foods you eat (like a lot of spinach), substances (like peptobismol), but most significantly suggests bleeding. When blood is denatured by acid in your stomach, as from ulcers, stools will turn tarry ("melena"). Blood may also be ingested from nose bleeds, bleeding gums... Persistent melena (without obvious cause) ; symptoms warrants md visit.

Many things.: It depends on the type of "culture".  Commonly bacteria.. But also viruses, fungus and even ova and parasite (if ordered).  Additionally we usually look for occult blood and white blood cells (by a few different names).

Rectal exam: Your symptoms may be due to hemorrhoids or a rectal fissure. A rectal exam should be done. In the meantime take a stool softener, apply warm compresses to the anal area, and insert a glycerin or anusol suppository or ointment for easier bm and soothing of the discomfort. Keep the anal area clean after using a suppository or ointment.
