two weeks ago i was given penicillin for an ear infection and my tonsils were extremely swollen; i tested negative for strep type a. i finished my 10 days of medicine and my tonsils are still pretty large but no sore throat or fever. it's awkward to drink

Could be mono: It is possible to have mononucleosis. This is an EB viral infection. Often times group a strep and mono we'll go together. I suggest that you be tested for mononucleosis. The tonsils are still huge it may even be necessary for consult with a ENT physician.

my son  has strep been on meds for three days he is 70 pounds and only taking 6.5 mg two times a day of amoxillican 400 mg and he still not better?

Please start over: No one would prescribe 6.5 mg (less than 1/10 of a milliliter) of this med for any infection.Please review your question and make any needed corrections. Dealing with these odd numbers and units of measure is frustrating but accuracy is important.

See below: Penicillin acts by interfering with the bacterial cell wall synthesis during cell replication. In strep. Throat the penicillin only causes a slight decrease in the length of the usually self limited iiiness but prevents suppurative complications and immune sequella ie. Rheumatic fever and possibly glomerulnephritis.  With other strep. Infections it takes longer than 2 days for improvement.

i have strep again. i get it once every two or so months...is there anything i can do to avoid the frequency?

Pharyngitis: I assume you are speaking about a sore throat or "streptococcal pharyngitis".  Blood testing should first be performed to ensure your immune system is working appropriately.  In some cases, a "tonsillectomy" or removal of your tonsils helps stop recurrent streptococcal infections.  Speak with your doctor or an ear, nose and throat specialist.

toddler has strep for two weeks (this coming friday).  temp seems to go up  at night to around 100.3 to 100.8.  should i be subtracting a degree rectally?

Best not to adjust: Rectal temperatures are most reflective of true body temperature and should be interpreted directly. As a matter of fact, it's best to report the measured temperature with the method by which you took it, and let your healthcare practitioner analyze it's significance. Hopefully your child is on appropriate antibiotics for Strep infection, which should cause fever resolution in less than 3 days.

Don't know: Without knowing what was being tested, the units, and a reference range, it is impossible to know. Antibodies? Antigen? Pcr? Need more information, please.

Pilonidal Cysts?: The only thing i can think of is that perhaps you have an ingrown hear at the site of pain causing a skin infection known as a pilonidal cyst. If this is the case then the antibiotics you were on may be ineffective to combat the infection causing the tailbone pain.

my two year old, three month old &i are all sick. im not sure yet but i think its strep because we were exposed. we don't have insurance. what do i do?

Call your doctor: It is a good idea to be evaluated.  Even though you do not have insurance, there are low cost alternatives, such as clinics at pharmacies.  If the children have strep, there is a chance that their condition can progressively worsen and develop into a very serious condition.  While healthcare is not free, it is worth the cost for wellness.
