not likely: You would have to take a lot of Tums (calcium carbonate) to cause any problems...And that would be because of the calcium, not the low acid.

my dr. said my calcium levels tested high. i took two 750mg tums (calcium carbonate) a couple of hours before the 1st blood test. would that affect the result?

No: A bit of antacid won't put your calcium in the high range. Your workup will include a repeat. If you have sarcoid, a parathyroid adenoma, have been overdoing vitamin d, or have some other cause of hypercalcemia, or whether this is an artifact or lab error, it will get sorted out -- and it's important. Tums (calcium carbonate): Tums (calcium carbonate) can increase the calcium in your blood levels.  When taken with meals, it acts as a binder of phosphorus and does not add as much to your blood.  When taken without food, it increases calcium levels in your blood.

No: The electrolytes and ions in our blood are very tightly regulated by our body. Anything that you take by mouth (Tums) will have no immediate effect on the blood level of any ion. You should be worked up for that. You may have some nasty process going on in your bones. Hopefully you do not, but do not neglect it!

i feel bloated, full and have no appetite today. is it okay to take tums (calcium carbonate) when i also take metoprolol and lisinipril for high blood pressure?

TUMS (calcium carbonate): Hi. I'm confused. You state that you're pregnant. ACE inhibitors shouldn't be used in pregnancy; metoprolol may be OK but is not preferred. TUMS (calcium carbonate) is OK in non-pregnancy taken with lisinopril and metoprolol. However, TUMS (calcium carbonate) is for treating stomach acid or providing calcium. Bloating, satiety, and no appetite don't sound all that suspicious for an acid problem. Please talk with your OB about meds.

No not scary: this is probably musculoskeletal pain coming from your ribs and the muscles in between them. If this only occurs when you fall asleep on your stomach, the odds of it being cardiac in nature quite low.

Depends on goal: Tums (calcium carbonate) neutralize stomach acidity and can relieve symptoms of this including gerd.  Tums (calcium carbonate) are a good source of calcium and can be used for this purpose.  So in fact they do 'work' for these purposes.

Sure: Military studies have shown that most medications are good for years to decades beyond the expiration date, though they may slowly lose efficacy over time.  (One exception may be tetracycline, but who uses that anymore?)  You just may need to take TWO Tums (calcium carbonate) to control your symptoms.  Obviously if a medicine looks or smells very different from when you last used it, it could have degraded.
