Not usual: Release of band in trigger finger is relatively simple surgery and should not cause' loss of dexterity '  how ever if unexpected infections etc sets in may  result in loss of dexterity, ask  your surgeon, risks and benefits of surgery.

i have been playing a lot of golf this year and i have developed trigger finger in my pinky finger.  are there any otc treatments that will help?

Anti-inflammatories: Any anti-inflammatory( aleve, (naproxen) advil) may help with your trigger finger. If treating with anti-inflammatories is not helpful then see your physician as an injection with a steroid will usually help.

Accepted Answer

Varies: You could attempt to manually extend it by using your other hand and then splint it in a straightened position.  If this is not successful you probably will need to be seen.

Possibly: It is possible that the medication used for your injection has affected your sensory nerve.  However, the numbness should resolve within a few hours - if not, i would recommend that you follow up with your physician.

Yes,: due to secondary nerve irritation, in the affected fingers can contribute to the tremor. An exam with your doctor to be sure, can be helpful.

Release it: If you have a true trigger finger, it can easily be released by transection of the A1 pulley and you would not have to wear a brace or cast

Contractures: You may have dupuytrens contractures affecting both hands and not progressive trigger fingers. A hand surgeon is best qualified to evaluate and treat you.

Yes: Yes and yes to both your questions.

Splint it.: Splinting it for a few weeks . Cortisone injection and nsaids helps. Check with an orthopedic  hand doctor.
